Player Registrations & Club/Team Contacts

Player Registrations

Player registrations are to be submitted on the FA's Club Portal. The last official date to register a player is 31st March each season with management committee discretion to approve later.

Clubs are usually able to submit teams to SSYFL for approval after July 1st , this is subject to WGS & Player Registration rollover being completed for the new season which is outside the League’s control.

Read the FA's guidance on how to use the Player Registration system or to raise support tickets. Contact SSYFL Player Registration support if you have any questions about Club Portal Player Registration.

When registering players please note the following points supported by SSYFL and FA rules:

Minimum number of players to be registered by 31st August:

  • U7, U8 Teams = 5
  • U9,U10 Teams = 7
  • U11,U12 Teams = 9
  • U13-U18 Teams = 11

Providing a player is eligible to play for a Team in all other respects...

  1. Development age groups U7 to U11 - A player may be registered for one or more Teams from the same Club (but not different Clubs) playing in the same SSYFL age group
  2. Competitive age groups U12-U18 – A player may only be registered for one Team playing in the same SSYFL age group
  3. All age groups - A player may be registered for more than one team from one or more Clubs if the teams play in different SSYFL age groups
  4. All age groups - A player may be registered for more than one team from one or more Clubs in the same age group if the Teams play in different Leagues

Key points for FA's Club Portal system:

  1. The Club provides access to the Player Registration system for their users, not the League. Prospective users should contact their Club Secretary as the first step to find out if they have a central person who registers players for the Club or to gain access if they’re expected to register their own players.
  2. Player Registration will need to be searched first for each player to see if they already have a record, if they do not, the player may be added.
  3. Photos are mandatory for SSYFL Player Registrations so they appear on squad lists and for safeguarding purposes.
  4. Postal addresses are not mandatory for SSYFL Player Registrations.
  5. The Club must verify the player's date of birth and specify which form of ID was checked when registering players (any of the document options supported by the system to evidence DoB are fine).
  6. Consent is required by the Club to confirm they are permitted to submit parent and player data in Player Registration, this can be offline or online as preferred by the Club.
  7. Team managers should have a printed squad list with them at matches, this can be printed once at the start of the season and only needs to be replaced if and when there's a squad change.
  8. From 2021/22 season it is mandatory to provide an email address to improve communication with the FA and enable online consent and other developments like the FA Match Day App to be considered by the League and Clubs in future.
  9. A linked parent/guardian is mandatory in the Player Registration system from season 2021/22 for players who are under 16.
